BabaBoom is a fun new ‘Charcoal Kebab Kitchen’ based in Battersea Rise SW11, London. Together the owners have spent over 30 years working in food and along the way have become rather opinionated… ‘We love real food, big flavours, cooking over fire (we’re cub scouts at heart,) outdoor adventures and doing things the right way’. BabaBoom use Falcon Enamelware in their kitchen and for serving in the restaurant so we took some time to ask them a bit about their concept and food…
1. Can you tell us about Baba Boom? When and how did it open?
BabaBoom opened in August 2014.
We’re a team of 3 Londoners (Travis, Eve and Jono) and collectively we’ve worked in food for over 30 years and decided now was the time to final open our own restaurant. It’s been exciting, nerve-wracking and a little exhausting but we’re loving it.
2. Do you have any signature dishes?
Our signature dishes are our charcoal grilled kebabs. We make everything fresh and in house, including our slow roast lamb shoulder, which sits on a pillowy flatbread alongside pomegranate onions and sumac sprinkled salad.
3. What are your plans for Autumn 2016?
Our plans for Autumn are to feed the people of Battersea and beyond the best kebabs they’ve ever eaten and to keep on adding new freshly made seasonal dishes like a harissa roasted butternut squash.
4. How and why do you use your Falcon in the Baba Boom kitchen and restaurant?
We chose Falcon because we love British (we combine the best of British ingredients with middle eastern inspired flavours) because it’s robust (just like our food) and because we love the colour - Pillarbox Red is really uplifting!
